Sleep apnea treatment
Sleep apnea can be characterized by snoring or pauses while breathing during sleep. In fact, people can experience breathing pauses of up to 10 seconds while they are sleeping – and they may not even know about the problem unless someone is there to see it. Sleep apnea can lead to headaches, fatigue, depression, heart disease, high blood pressure, and a variety of other serious conditions, including sudden cardiac death.
Who Is At Risk
Obstructive sleep apnea can develop in anyone at any age but most often occurs in people who are:
- Overweight
- Male
- Age 40 and older
- Smokers
